It's crazy the percentage of patches you make that I like. You've got a voice dude. You did an OB6 video a little bit back, so I've got an honest question; which did you prefer after putting them through their paces? Ostensibly they have the same filter, but the TEO5 seems to have a much different character from what I've heard so far.
How's it in a mix with other synths? Sounds to me like it would want to alwayd be lead
I am looking at this synth for Jump specifically. If you want to cater to the talentless, man bun, electric cars driving men.....fine.
😂
I know it may sound stupid,but...do you have a limiter at the end of your chain(mix bus) when you record? In a few videos already I heard digital distortion. Just saying. Great demo. I love your videos❤
No external processing - the signal goes straight into a 24 bit Field Recorder. I usually do my gain staging with caution and also check the final videos for clipping but can't guarantee that in very few occasions there's a peak slipping through.
Loving your samples on the lofi 12 XT! Almost didn’t order the ambient 0 bc of how great the sounds preloaded in lofi unit came .
Thanks for your nice comment! I'm happy you find them useful.
Wow, easily one of the best sounding demos Ive heard so far! Amazing!
That first Arp!!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
nice, well teased out nuances out of this.
i think your TEO must pass a cranial nerve test.
Здравствуйте! Для Korg Wavestate подойдут эти паки?
Nice ❤. Bet its pricey though 😕. Im looking for a new poly synth and am torn between this and one of those Polybrutes. Am thinking my Matriarch can do what this one does…🤷♂️
Matriarch (or Moog in general) sound quite different to Oberheim synths, especially those equipped with the SEM filter. But I would also say that (just based on specs as I haven't tried one yet), that the Polybrutes offer more flexibility.
Parietal lobe is just stunning. 12 mins in
Nice video!!! Wich diferences has this ObTeo with Ob-06? Thanks
Some great dub techno sounds!
This is a brilliant idea surprisingly well executed. Preorders just don’t work for me due to travel. I need something to be in stock and ready to ship when I’m home long enough to receive it. Can’t wait to for something with an unknown shipping date and I may not be home when it does ship.
wow! can we buy these presets somewhere?
Pack is going to be released very soon. I still have to put together the documentation.
@@limbicbits cool!
I just think it's funny you're using brain anatomy for the preset names. I'm a neuroradiologist so it's amusing.
Ha Ha 😂. I just noticed that in the sound list 👍🏻
OB Teo-5 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yah, not as great as the TEO-5. But now with that UB-XA D being announced with that price point. Oof! You might have a lot more downloads of this sound pack! (if it works w it, which I would think it should)
the pack should work with the desktop version, too. I'd still save the money to get the TEO-5 or a used OB-6, though. Only wished, the TEO-5 came also as a module version.
You nailed it w the "NO "T. Sawyer" or "Jump". A breath of fresh air to hear this type of synth using more modern sounds! Excellent work creating these!
You had me at no Sawyer or jump. I can’t stress enough how much of a relief that is😂 Great vid love it can’t wait to get mine.
😂
Wow outstanding sound presets. I hope Oberheim will bring a desktop version of this.
Really fantastic demo here.
Excellent demo of an amazing synth, thanks!
I appreciate the neuroanatomical references, as a psychiatrist that makes electronic music, they are perfect!
Has a similar hybrid sound of the Take 5 and Pro 3. All phenomenal synthesizers but I find them kind of same-y tonally. It sounds fantastic no doubt, but the OB-6 sounds more lively to my ears and less stiff (modern?). Thanks!
I think Sequential/Oberheim are very good at building upon their past in a very evolving way. Each generation builds on top of the previous so there’s a lot of carryover but then always something a bit new like through-zero FM here.
In my opinion (having had the other two also for a while) the filter makes a huge difference, here. I didn't dig sound of the Take 5completely and missed polyphony on the Pro 3 (both are great synths, though), but I really liked the TEO-5
Why exactly do they put those lines across the control surface? It makes it harder to read.
maybe it's also due to the color grading - in real life, you can read the letters pretty easily
sounds good, really good. can't wait to try it in a shop.
This synth sounds like a dream. For pads: TEO-5 vs Peak? Thoughts?
Hard to tell. Both deliver great pads but if I had to choose, I'd likely go for the TEO-5 as it has more character in comparison. Peak is more of a jack-of-all-trades which is great but not particularly what I am aiming for in my setup. If you want to get modulation madness, Peak with its 4 envelopes and flexible 4 LFOs wins.
Oh yes. This is going to be the next synth I buy. I will have to wait though. Though it's quite affordable (For an Oberheim), it's still a lot for me now. But I will save for it. It's worth it.
Sounds awesome..... 🥰
Definitely want one. I’m about to get a dedicated room aka home studio soon when I move to a new house and I would definitely want to have this there.
What will be your address ????? And are you out in the daytime??? 😂😂😂
@@DorisDay-lw4xs hehe will probably never leave if I have this one in there 😁
Underwhelming to say the least.
It sounds good TE05 over UBX-A for me
way better than the UB-Xa in my opinion.
My 2 Cents: Oberheim TEO-5 Being a huge fan of the Oberheim sound, especially the SEM filter, I was quite curious to check out the TEO-5. And I wasn’t disappointed. The TEO-5 certainly delivers that classic, warm, and broad Oberheim sound but overall a bit more modern/HiFi compared to the OB-6. I still like the OB-6 a bit better, but if it hadn’t been in my studio yet, I likely would have chosen the TEO-5 instead due to the lower price and, equally important for me, the way more flexible modulation matrix. Speaking of which, the mod matrix is well thought-out, easily accessible, and offers lots of modulation sources and targets. You can even use delay time, which is great for Karplus-Strong experiments. The filter and oscillators sound lovely and, in combination with the envelopes, deliver that classy Oberheim vibe. With FM and two different ways to oversaturate the signal (analog and digital), you also enter aggressive terrains that aren’t possible with the OB-6 (and even less with the OB-X8). Maybe some of you are deciding between getting a TEO-5 or the UB-Xa. The UB-Xa is not bad at all, especially if voice count or bitimbrality is an important factor for you. But when it comes to that untamed Oberheim sound, in my opinion, the TEO-5 wipes the floor with Behringer’s iteration. However, to be fair, both follow slightly different Oberheim sound approaches, and the UB-Xa is not trying to replicate the SEM-based Oberheims. TL;DR: The TEO-5 is a fantastic synth with a flexible sound that certainly carries the Oberheim heritage within. In that price range, it may be one of the best poly analogs currently available.
It's worth noting that a 2nd hand ob6 desktop prices are nearly equivalent to the TEO5 that said I too prefer more modulation having previously owned an obie desktop. Cmon sequential there are many of us who'd love such a synth as a desktop - same as take 5.
also lets not forget the form factor. I'm buying this to replace my arturia midi keyboard on my desk!
@@tendingtropic7778 aye but some of us have no need of a keybed (I use my nord stage as my main keybed). They should make a TAKETEO 10 desktop 😈

What's the name of that eurorack case that you have the sealegs? I'm interested. Looks really cool!
It's a modbap minicase but it should be the same one as that one by 4ms: www.thomann.de/intl/4ms_pod20_powered.htm?offid=1&affid=397
Moog....why did you do this??
Why did it take so long, would have saved me 25 K in eurorack modules if this had been available earlier.
@snorrevonflake dude if it took you 25k in modules just to do what the Labyrinth can do, you are in the wrong hobby or really need to do more research.
@@snorrevonflake my comment wasn't positive, I am not really impressed by this machine, I still like the Dfam more, I know they are different but still...maybe it's just me not really understanding it. regarding you spending 25k on modules if you really like the Labyrinth and you think it can substitute your modular system I think you should go for it, I believe we all should use what really inspires us and what makes us feel more produttive.
"I believe we all should use what really inspires us and what makes us feel more produttive." <-- THIS! And if I might also add: Always check if you can't do something similar with what you already have. Buy less - make more music
yess! @@limbicbits
ELZ aside, this may be the best sounding Liven yet.
Vintage Sound Power
Great Demo, fantatic sounds. 👍
Pleasantly surprised by the variety of those tracks.
Probably the synth of the decade/desert island for me. I spent a fortune on eurorack to achieve basically what this does in a compact standalone device.
Mostly random atonal bleep bloops?
Synth of the decade? You surely can't be serious.
@@VincentsVideoVisions Exactly.
To each their own. I like west coast sound engines, but the obsession with random ruins most products for me.
@@VincentsVideoVisions I saw in another comment you mentioned atonal bleep bloops and you did here. So I checked the manual and the sequencer can be quantized to scales and the root note can be changed for those scales. Also this video shows patterns which adhere to scales. So I'm not sure where you are getting the atonal part from.
Nice. Did you connect the arturia via midi and it plays the sounds on the keyboard?
yes
What a piece of crap. An old casio synth sounds far more interesting. And I mean it serious!
😂
The trick with this device lays within the sequencer, that is bascially a Turing machine that can modulate itself. This video unfortunately doesn´t show it well, despite the ramdom melody part. It needs some form of explanation in order to understand what´s going on there. And some audience that is willing to dig deeper than a few bleeps and blops.
I've seen loads of videos on this and I'm just not feeling it. $600 for a device that basically just spits out mostly atonal bleep bloops isn't for me. For the same price someone could get an Arturia Minifreak which utterly blows this thing away.
Indeed. And a Turing Machine is just about 150 euros if someone is interesting in the random voltages.
I do like those percussive sounds!
Still waiting for my ELZ1 Play to be dispatched and Sonicware delivers another Liven that I might have to get my hands on, as well as the Texture Lab. This company is on it right now.
My 2 cents: The Moog Labyrinth combines subtractive synthesis, wavefolding, FM, and ring modulation with a semi-modular interface and an interesting semi-random sequencer. Despite its possibilities, the resulting sound palette seems a bit limited, as there is a strong dominance in the mids that is almost always present. The decay envelopes, with their quite snappy character, are perfect for percussion and experimental sounds but can also be used for dark drones when set to higher decay levels. I would have really liked to see at least an attack phase to open up possibilities, but you can always use external modules for that. Understanding the concept, especially the sequencer, might be a bit tricky for some in the beginning. So, I highly recommend: a) reading the manual and b) trying out the included patch sheets. If it’s your first time approaching this kind of sequencer and/or wavefolding, the documentation certainly helps a lot. The Labyrinth complements the existing line of Mother 32, DFAM, and Subharmonicon quite well. Its wonderful sequencer can be a source of inspiration and, for me, is the highlight of the Labyrinth. You can blend the two sequencer outputs, introduce some controlled chaos with the possibility to choose from 16 different scale modes, and much more. TLDR: Interesting concept that might not be for everyone. Great sequencer with some outstanding tricks. While its sound can, in my opinion, be approximated by cheaper solutions such as West Pest by Cre8Audio, the complete package with the sequencer and semi-modular architecture seals the deal.
